Being in dozens of groups at once can be distracting at work and at home. First step: decide which groups truly need your attention in real time.
Open per-chat notification settings in WhatsApp. Mute low-priority groups for eight hours or a week; leave critical work groups unmuted.
Pick a distinct notification sound for one or two important groups so you can tell priority without unlocking your phone.
Archive groups you rarely check but do not want to leave. A shorter chat list usually means less mental load.
